Dev Blog #1 – Pea Game Start

Pea Game Dev Blog #1

This is the start of the dev log for this prototype. I am unsure how far this will go but I would like to try and make it into a full game. This prototype is mainly for me to relearn Unity as I have been away from it for a while as I hadn’t had the time to work on a game when I was working.

This video demonstrates how talking to NPCs will work. It will zoom the camera in and you can then scroll through the dialogue.

Here the NPC now has a texture and now displays an exclamation mark when you get within its radius.

The character now has proper animations from Mixamo. Here I show the different movement options that the player can do like jumping and “rolling” which is more like crouching here.

The character can now collect a gold pea item. When you do, the character will do a little dance animation, text will display on the screen and a sound effect will play. (Note: The sfx used here will not be in the final game. This is just for demonstration purposes).

In this video, I have created a portal mechanic which teleports you to another level. I made the effect using the shader graph.

Here I set up a navigation system for the enemy which will move along the blue surface.

Here the player gets close to the enemy and it then follows the player.

Here I am testing the health system where you will explode into particles when your health goes to 0. The player falls through the floor which is not meant to happen however this has been fixed now.
