These are some game ideas that I had planned for my Final Major Project.
Concept Idea 1:
Type of game: 3rd Person Platformer
One idea that I had for my final project was going to be a third-person platformer game similar to games like Super Mario Galaxy or Sonic Adventure. There would be multiple levels and you would have to get to the end of them complete the game. There would be power-ups which would help the player when traversing the levels. The environments will be cartoon styled and there will be a few worlds for the player to explore. Such as a green land, underground, ice land and volcano land.
I decided to not do this idea as I would have to create a character and as I would be focusing more on the technical side, in those games there aren’t many mechanics aside from the character and a few other things so it wouldn’t be the best idea to go with for my final project. I also wanted to add in some puzzle elements into this as well, but I thought it would be better to do this in another game.
Concept Idea 2:
Type of Game: First-Person Platformer
This idea is similar to the previous one where instead of it being a third-person platformer, it would be in first person instead as I wouldn’t have to create a character model for the game.
However, I thought that this would not work well with the mechanics I had wanted to add so I decided not to go for it.
Concept Idea 3:
Type of Game: First-Person Puzzle Platformer
Another idea that I had planned to do for the final project was a first-person puzzle game. This would be similar to games like Portal and Superliminal, where the player has to solve puzzles in an area. There would be multiple areas that the player has to go through to get to the end of the game. Each of these has puzzles and platforming sections in each as well as new mechanics.
Story Concept – You are a VR Tester and you have been put in this game to test it until you notice a virus has taken over which is the massive beacon in the middle. This virus has locked you in the game and you must shut each power source down in order to delete the virus.
Final Concept:
I decided to go with Idea 3 as it would include a lot of mechanics which I would be able to make and I would get to create puzzles with a variety of mechanics in them.
